Lāčplēsis Day torchlight procession

Dear fellow Latvians!
November is the time when hearts beat a little faster and the name of Latvia rings out especially!
On Lāčplēsis Day we remember the heroes of our land – the brave people who, with their strength, courage and selflessness, won Latvia’s freedom.
This evening we will walk together to the local soldiers’ memorial: Volkstrachtenverein Garmisch – Gedächtniskapelle am Fuße des Kramers.
To honour, in silence and by the light of flames, those who protected our land and its freedom. Even though the light of our torches will be electronic this time, it will symbolically carry the same light.
Please bring:
- electronic torches – real fire is not allowed during the procession (for example these);
- a warm drink in a thermos;
- small snacks to share.
Join us to be together, to remember and to feel – our Latvia lives as long as our memory and love for our land are alive.
13.11.2026, 18:00
Meeting point: Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria – view on map
Each participant is responsible for their own safety and that of their children and any friends they bring.
See you there, to carry the light of remembrance together!
