Meet our association’s board!

Agnese Jirgensone
Chair of the Latvian Association in Bavaria
“Being Latvian is not just a word or belonging to a nation – it is a living, inseparable part of me. It is my language, our songs, celebrations and traditions, and those special, warm feelings we share when we are together with our own people, even if our everyday life and home are now far from Latvia.”

Lāsma Bulmeistere
Vice-Chair of the Latvian Association in Bavaria
It is important to me to preserve the Latvian language, culture and traditions and to pass them on to my children and future generations. Through my work in the association I want to help preserve Latvian values, celebrate the festivals that matter to Latvians and strengthen Latvian identity.

Zeltīte Krūze-Innerloingere
Treasurer of the Latvian Association in Bavaria
“What matters to me in life is preserving Latvian culture, honouring the heritage of our ancestors and respecting the history of my people.”

Liene van Keulen
Board member of the Latvian Association in Bavaria
Living abroad, you feel most strongly what it means to be at home, in Latvia. And it is a sharp awareness that this longing stays with me every day, no matter how many years have passed. The choir and the Association have given me back a piece of that feeling of home. Being able to speak and sing in my own language and to meet people with a similar past and an equally strong emotional bond with Latvia gives me strength, fills me with joy – yes, makes me happy.

Jānis Caunītis
Board member of the Latvian Association in Bavaria. Organiser of sports activities.
Being a Latvian abroad isn’t easy. It is a very time-consuming and demanding hobby, so it matters to me to help fellow Latvians find each other and stick together – and I encourage that through all kinds of sports activities.
Mikus Ēriks Atvars
Web designer of the Latvian Association in Bavaria
“I designed and maintain the association’s website so that Latvians in Bavaria can find everything about our events, choir and community in one place. Suggestions and ideas for the website are always welcome.”
